In this project we are tasked to perform a feasibility study to determine if there exist an
open source, or Off-the-Shelf (OTS), Customer Relationship Management System (CRM) that builds
and expands upon ThinkPaths current CRM ThinkPro. After determining their are viable CRM options
we ultimately decided we needed to do a comparative analysis of CRMs to determine the best fit for
ThinkPath.
Our goal as a team for Capstone II, is to grow our knowledge base and improve our development
skills while assisting our clients at ThinkPath. We thank our sponsors for giving us the
opportunity to improve our skills and learn about the inner workings of a real world company.
For our first sprint, we spent time researching multiple Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solutions
analyzing them and trying to find the most optimal solution for our client. During this time our group split
into subteams to research more in depth and we found 3 possibilities: Pipedrive, Capsule and Odoo.
Our team created a report for each CRM along with a short presentation which we presented to our client.
After careful consideration our client wants us to further look into Pipedrive and Capsule.
Sprint 1 Presentation
For our second sprint, we spent time researching two Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solutions
analyzing them and trying to do real world examples for our client. During this time our group split
into two subteams to research more indepth on Pipedrive and Capsule CRMs. Our team created videos
breaking down the different abilities each CRM has to offer.
After using the calculators, the majority of us agree that Pipedrive is the best option for ThinkPath.
Capsule had an average score of 58.71 points totalled and Pipedrive had an average score of 62.29.
They are both great solutions to replacing their old CRM, but Pipedrive has a user interface that is
very similar to ThinkPro, as well as a lot of integrations that allow for a more customizable experience.
It also meets their needs and requirements very well. It offers a wide variety of tools that can be
beneficial to the specific needs of ThinkPath. It also is more affordable and inline with ThinkPath’s
budget and number of users that would be utilizing the software. Lastly, it is open source, which makes
updating very easy and allows for different approaches to bug fixes.
